Dusk and Summer

1 week from today, I will be entering my last year of high school. It seems pretty scary, but exciting at the same time. When I was younger, I always imagined what it would be like to be older, and being in the 12th grade was like being on top of the world. However, now that it has finally come, I don’t feel as excited as I used to. This year will be a big year for me. I have to choose my Universities, save up money for Prom and finally have to leave high school. Freedom is great, but sometimes I get scared. My friends are what makes going to school so much fun, but when we split off into our own directions, I don’t know if I can bare being away from them. Sure, we can call each other up and hang out out side of classes, but it’s just different when you are sitting in class beside your friend every day. I feel that I might not be ready to let go right now. I will see how strong I will be as the year progresses. It could just be anxiety for the opening of school that is making me think all of this. I should just relax, breathe and enjoy my last year!

My father started his summer vacation today, so he decided to take me downtown to buy some new art supplies and to go see some art galleries. It was fun shopping at Curry’s. I love walking in there and smelling the scent of…well ART. There are some really good back-to-school deals, and my heart was set on getting a new portfolio binder for my loose-leaf works. I ended up getting a big mixing pad for my watercolours instead. Along with the mixing pad, I also bought some frisket film for masking my paintings I will be doing this week and some new graphite pencils since my old set are about an inch long and pretty much useless. I need a new sketchbook as well. For someone who seems to need a lot of art supplies, I end up not getting what I want. At least I got what I need right now. I will be sure to come back and buy some more stuff before school opens again. Art class next year will be so intense! Anyways, due to the large volume of rain water that harshly sprinkled us for about 2 hours in the early afternoon, we decided to head home before the rain got worst. To my disappointment, the rain cleared up and allowed sunny skies to shine through right when I got home. Just my luck. I did, however get to past by the Ontario College of Art and Design! The picture to the right was taken in the front yard area. I thought the statue looked pretty cool. I don’t know if I want to go to school there, but I will keep my options opened. Now, tomorrow’s a big day - going to get some serious painting done!
